At Laidlaw College, research isn’t confined to the library—it shapes how we think, teach, and engage with the world. Our academics are actively involved in research and publication, contributing scholarship that speaks into theology, ministry, and contemporary issues facing the Church and society today.
Twice a year, we publish Stimulus, our peer-reviewed research journal, bringing together voices from Laidlaw and beyond to explore faith, culture, and practice. Alongside this, we host public lectures and academic conferences that open up rigorous, faith-shaped conversation to the wider community—opportunities to wrestle with big questions together.
Each week, our research seminars bring staff and students into dialogue, testing ideas, sharing findings, and building a culture where scholarship is a shared endeavour rather than a solitary pursuit.
Postgraduate study is central to this life of inquiry. Our students are undertaking Masters and PhD theses and dissertations, contributing original research across theology, biblical studies, and related fields—work that will shape the Church’s thinking for years to come.

Yes! In addition to all the online resources available, distance students can access the print collection at our Auckland campus.
Library staff can send print books from our Main and Short Loan collections to your chosen address, and we will include a return courier bag for you to send them back to us.
We can also scan single chapters or journal articles from the Auckland campus print collection. Please email libraryAuckland@laidlaw.ac.nz with any scanning requests.
Yes! We offer annual library subscriptions at our Henderson and Christchurch campuses, which allow you to borrow six print books at a time. The cost for alumni is $80 per year, and the cost for members of the public is $160 per year. Please note that this subscription does not allow access to electronic resources, including ebooks.

You are welcome to come on site, browse the library and use the print collections at our Auckland and Christchurch campuses during business hours (please sign in at the front desk).
