Laidlaw College partners with a diverse network of churches across Aotearoa, each committed to forming leaders within their own communities and traditions. These partnerships allow students to study close to home, within the context of their own local church community, while gaining qualifications owned and quality-assured by Laidlaw.
Our partners range from independent churches and denominational colleges to specialist training academies, each bringing their own strengths, culture, and calling. Some are accredited to deliver Laidlaw qualifications directly; others license Laidlaw material to support students in their own programmes. Many offer a pathway for students to staircase into further study, right through to a full degree with Laidlaw College.
What unites our partners is a shared conviction: theological education is strongest when it is grounded in community, mentorship, and lived ministry context. Together, we are equipping a new generation of leaders — across denominations, cultures, and callings — to serve the Church and their communities throughout Aotearoa and beyond.
Arise is an independent church that operates in ten locations throughout New Zealand. Arise Ministry Academy is the Arise Church training centre where students grow in their faith, expand their knowledge of the Bible and develop in character and leadership. The Arise Ministry Academy’s mission is to empower, equip and release a new wave of ministers and leaders into their God-given circles of influence.
Nature of the partnership:
L4 programme is delivered by block course, and students can join L5 programme via distance or on LC campus. Arise provide cohort support for students who are part of an Arise Church.
Bishopdale Theological College has a vision for providing theological education for the purposes of ministry formation and ongoing development with a missional focus. While open to all denominations and mindful of ecumenical relationships and opportunities in its local context in the top of the South Island, the primary focus for BTC is in addressing the needs of providing theological and ministry formation and ongoing development for Anglican evangelicals in particular.
Nature of the partnership: Bishopdale are accredited to deliver the Level 5 Diploma in Christian Studies, which is owned by Laidlaw, and students can staircase into the Bishopdale Level 6 diploma. Students can also choose to complete a full degree through Laidlaw College.
The Salvation Army Booth College of Mission consists of the School for Officer Training – with campuses in Upper Hutt, New Zealand, and Suva, Fiji, the School of Bible and Mission, the Centre for Leadership Development, Youth Mission Training, Library, Heritage and Archives Centre and an Early Childhood Education Centre.
Nature of the partnership: Booth College of Mission license Laidlaw’s Level 5 material to teach their students. Students are able to continue on and complete a full BTh with Laidlaw College if they choose.
C3 College has a vision for theological training that helps students discover their God-given purpose through holistic discipleship. Delivered flexibly online, its courses are designed to strengthen faith, grow character, and prepare students for ministry and life, wherever they are based. The primary focus for C3 College is equipping members of C3 churches and their communities across New Zealand and Australia in particular.
Nature of the partnership: C3 College provides licensed material to Laidlaw College to support students who attend C3 churches in New Zealand to gain context-specific learning for their internship placements.
Curate Church is an independent church committed to expressing the love and message of Jesus Christ within its local community and beyond. As an extension of this mission, Curate College equips and empowers both current and emerging generations to become transformational leaders in every sphere of society, regardless of vocational calling. Its core purpose is to cultivate spiritual formation, theological understanding, and practical ministry skills within each and every student.
Nature of the partnership: Curate College is accredited to deliver the Level 4 Certificate in Christian Ministry – Internship (CertCM), which is owned by Laidlaw College.
Emmaus is a Christian training provider for adults who want to go deeper in their Christian faith, life, and knowledge of God. It was set up under the Palmerston North Christian Leaders Association in 2009 and has been offering night courses and an internship programme ever since. It is run by an independent Christian Trust Board, and it uses gifted Christian teachers from around the region. It’s inter-denominational, and welcomes people from all backgrounds and church communities to be part of a warm, welcoming and relaxed learning community. Emmaus provides courses of study which integrate Christian faith and life through spiritual formation, practical experience and teaching based on a Biblical worldview.
Nature of the partnership: Emmaus is accredited to deliver the Level 4 Certificate in Christian Ministry – Internship (CertCM), which is owned by Laidlaw College.
Equippers College is the training arm of Equippers Church, a vibrant multi-cultural, multi-campus church, with 20 campuses in New Zealand and 10 others across Asia, Europe, the Pacific, North America and South America. Equippers College is passionate about developing people who are immersed in a strong leadership culture, a creative and innovative space, where they are trained, empowered, and grown into strong, confident leaders, equipped and fully activated for a life of purpose and influence within their own everyday contexts.
Nature of the partnership: Equippers College holds NZQA consent to assess and is accredited to deliver the Level 4 Certificate in Christian Ministry – Internship (CertCM). The Level 5 Diploma in Christian Studies – Christian Leadership (DipCS) is delivered by Equippers in partnership with Laidlaw College, which owns the qualification. Students may staircase into the Bachelor of Theology (BTh) or complete a Graduate Diploma in Theology (GradDipTh) through distance learning with Laidlaw, supported by an Equippers cohort model.
Vineyard Ministry School grows kingdom leaders for mission, ministry and leadership with students coming from the 27 Vineyard Churches across Aotearoa as well as other evangelical and pentecostal churches across the whenua. Ministry Students give a year to explore theology and practice with leaders from different churches across Aotearoa and with the support of a supervisor and mentor in their own context.

No. The Centre for Church Leadership exists to serve the church and there is no membership fee to access support and resources. Events, coaching and courses we run do have a cost associated with them.
The Centre for Church Leadership sits alongside the academic arm of Laidlaw College as a means to offer other means of support to church leaders such as coaching and masterclasses specific to developing ministry capacity.
